Farming That Gives Back
Regenerative farming is an ecological approach to agriculture focused on improving the land rather than depleting it. It includes:
These practices create a healthier environment and more nutrient‑dense food—now and for future generations.
At Canfield Estate, we grow fresh, nutrient‑rich food year‑round using ecological methods that protect biodiversity and strengthen the land. Our four‑season production includes:
Main Season Fields (Outdoor Growing)
2 acres of diverse market gardens producing everything from tomatoes to carrots. This area drives our main CSA season and supplies storage crops for winter.
Food Forest
A newly planted one‑third‑acre food forest featuring fruit trees, berry shrubs, pollinator plants, and soil‑building species. Over time, this space will provide abundant harvests and habitat for birds, insects, and wildlife.
Caterpillar Tunnels (Fall Extension Only)
Unheated 100’ × 20’ tunnels that help extend harvests deeper into the fall, protecting crops from early frost and maintaining late‑season abundance for our CSA.
7,000 sq. ft. Greenhouse (Year‑Round + Winter Production)
The heart of our winter growing operation. Here we cultivate crops such as:
This allows us to provide fresh, organic food even in the coldest months of the year.
Healthy soil is the foundation of everything we do. To grow nutrient‑dense, flavourful crops, we use methods that support diverse, resilient soil ecosystems.
Our approach includes:
We are proudly Certified Organic with Ecocert Canada, and all of our decisions are guided by regenerative principles that restore the land and support thriving biodiversity.
