At Canfield Estate Regenerative Farm, our work is guided by a simple belief: healthy food begins with healthy soil, and healthy soil begins with the hands that tend it. Our team brings together decades of experience in organic farming, community food systems, and ecological land stewardship. Each member contributes unique skills—from CSA management and market gardening to seed production, grower education, and livestock care—all rooted in a shared commitment to regeneration and community nourishment. Together, we work to rebuild soil, foster biodiversity, and grow nutrient‑dense food for our CSA members and surrounding community. Our approach is shaped by observation, intention, and deep respect for the land. As the farm continues to grow, we are reminded daily of the resilience of nature when it is cared for with thoughtfulness and integrity. Below, meet the growers who bring Canfield Estate to life.
Regenerative Farm Manager
Hanna’s farming journey began in 2006 on a small urban farm in Toronto, where she discovered the powerful connection between nourishing people and caring for the land. Since 2013, she and her family have called Haldimand County home, continuing to grow food that supports both community health and the natural environment.
With nearly two decades of experience operating organic market gardens in Toronto, Brampton, Vaughan, and Caledonia, Hanna brings extensive hands‑on expertise to Canfield Estate. Her background spans CSA programs, farmers’ markets, and wholesale produce, as well as seedling production and seed production for gardeners nationwide. She is equally passionate about grower education, sharing practical knowledge that helps other farmers and home gardeners adopt regenerative, organic practices.
Hanna’s work is rooted in biodiversity and soil health—the essential foundations of resilient, nutrient‑dense food systems. As she often says, “Farming is more than growing food; it’s about building a resilient community and creating a healthier environment for generations to come.”
Regenerative Farm Assistant Manager
Leah’s roots in agriculture run deep. Raised on her family’s seventh‑generation dairy farm, she developed an early appreciation for food production, land stewardship, and the rhythms of farm life. She later completed her studies at the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus, strengthening her foundation in applied agricultural science.
With seven years of CSA management experience, including her time now at Canfield Estate, Leah brings a well‑rounded and practical understanding of community‑focused food systems. In addition to her CSA and market gardening background, she also grows her own cut‑flower garden and raises laying hens—diverse experiences that contribute to her skill as a thoughtful, capable, and resilient grower.
Leah’s deep agricultural roots, combined with her commitment to ecological farming and community nourishment, make her an invaluable part of our mission at Canfield Estate Regenerative Farm.
